What can you expect?

As the Field Assignment Laborer, you will perform tasks involving physical labor including operating hand/power tools of all types: small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.

How will you do it?

  • Perform general manual labor including cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris.
  • Perform tree cutting and general clearing with use of chainsaws and power tools.
  • Perform general manual labor to include use of hand tools and provide manual labor support for field effort.
  • Identify any hazards as observed for safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Monitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environment and reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants by removing material from the job site.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations to ensure that health and safety standards are met and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Coordinate actions with other trades to ensure a smooth and timely workflow.
  • Provide assistance to site superintendent and other supporting construction staff in the field.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general construction materials, methods and tools/equipment involved in civil construction projects.
  • Demonstrated housekeeping skills with attention to detail on environmental hazardous to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants.
  • Ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined result.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to travel to remote places for work related purposes (up to 100% of time) and remain on project site for 14 to 30 days at a time, working at time in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to live and work with co-workers in close quarters and keep good morale.

Who is STG Pacific looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the STG Pacific's Driving Policy required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CDL preferred.
  • Experience with civil construction laborer skills for remote civil construction project preferred.
  • Experience with civil construction equipment and tools including their uses, repair and maintenance and practical applications preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Alaska or remote construction project experience preferred
