Advanced Medical Transport of Central Illinois Assistant EMS Academy Director in Peoria, Illinois

Job Summary: Will serve as an assistant EMS instructor within the Creighton University AMT (CUAMT) Paramedic Program and EMT Program, with an emphasis on psychomotor skills instruction in laboratory and simulation environments. Will develop, coordinate, and instruct all continuing education, and serve as the “training officer” for field operations staff.

Supervision Received: Director of EMS Academy and CUAMT

Key Responsibilities:

I. CUAMT (Paramedic Program)a. Instructs students in various EMS coursesb. Assists in developing lab and simulation scenarios and other learning materialsc. Evaluates student performance during psychomotor sessions, including skills andscenario examinationsd. Maintains professional clinical and instructional competencies in the subject areastaught, such as: inter-rater reliability, student performance and feedback,orientation to evaluation instruments and use of lab equipment.e. Completes documentation of students’ performance as directedf. Assists in the development of the educational content of the program curriculumg. Assists in the development of policies and procedures ensuring smooth andongoing paramedic program operationsh. Assesses student progress and develop corrective measures when a student doesnot show adequate progressi. Actively participates in determining the terminal competence of each graduateand makes recommendations to the Program Director and EMS Medical Directorregarding successful program completionj. Accepts responsibility for cooperative involvement and collaboration with thephysician medical director(s), other corporate functions and other team members,assuring adequate controls for the medical quality of the programk. Assists in developing program marketing and recruitment strategies to ensuresufficient enrollmentsl. Assists Program Director in the coordination and supervision of students inpatient care environments, providing frequent assessments of the students’progress in achieving acceptable program requirementsm. Develop and deliver orientation and training to preceptors including the purposesof the student rotation (minimum competencies, skills, and behaviors); evaluationtools used by the program; and criteria for grading students.n. II. AMT (EMT Education and Other Responsibilities)a. Development, coordination, and instruction of all continuing educationb. Coordination and/or instruction of all alphabet courses: ACLS, PALS, ITLS, CPRc. Serve as the “training officer” for field operations staffd. Schedule and conduct monthly onboarding for Operations caregiverse. Works closely with Operations and Compliance to develop and maintain a followup procedure to assist in developing new employee’s skillsf. Support and mentor new caregiversg. Lead first-year retention of all field staff.h. Functions as a lead instructor in the EMR and EMT classes, emphasizingpsychomotor skills instruction in laboratory and simulation environmentsi. Assist in the development of an accelerated EMS academy style EMT program,other EMS Academy educational content and policies and procedures of theAcademy.j. Assists in marketing and recruitment strategies to ensure sufficient enrollmentsk. Promotes the safe use of all lab equipment and lab facilitiesl. Maintains professional clinical and instructional competencies in the subject areastaught, such as: inter-rater reliability, student performance and feedback,orientation to evaluation instruments and use of lab equipment.m. Serves as patient advocate by demanding the highest quality education forstudentsn. Partner with Human Recourses and Operations to forecast and develop plans forkey staffing initiatives.o. Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:1. Licensed as a paramedic or other health care professional (R.N., P.A., M.D., or D.O.).2. Possess an Associate’s Degree in a related medical, educational, or administrative field of study with a Bachelor’s Degree completed or planned for completion on agreed timeline with management (within two years preferred). Or an educational plan for these degreesas agreed to.3. Five years of patient care experience in an emergency or critical care environment,preferably including field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care.4. Two years of proven experience as an educator of health or medical related content5. Currently recognized as or eligible for licensure as an EMS Lead Instructor. – Requiredwithin 6 months of hire6. Currently recognized as / or eligible for certification as a CPR, ACLS, PALS, and ITLSinstructor. – Required within 6 months of hire.7. Be knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students8. Be knowledgeable about the education of the Emergency Medical Services professions,including professional, legislative, and regulatory issues regarding education of the EMSProfessions9. Be knowledgeable concerning current national curricula, national accreditation, nationalregistration, and the requirements for state certification or licensure10. Other leadership skills essential to the role include but are not limited to: strongorganization skills with attention to detail; strong verbal and written communicationskills, ability to coordinate multiple projects and processes in support of educationalefforts, and the ability to make decisions in the interest of patient care and student safetyand success, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.11. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, data management, basicreporting and internet applications preferable
