Job Summary

As a Development Engineer , you will work closely with the product groups in the research and development of HTB instructions with a focus on hydraulic pumps and motors.

Required to maintain all NPI coordination, research all NPI programs for pump and motor identification, create development or document projects, and create new media through Arbor text Content Manager (ACM) to be published to SIS. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering training in Building LC, Peoria and onsite Dealer Training Worldwide for the use of the HTB for hydraulic pumps and motors. Build dealer capability to help enable Services Growth for the target Hydraulics Pumps and Motors Lost Opportunity. Responsible to provide product support to the dealers using DSN and SIS Feedback tickets.

  • This is a hybrid position located in Peoria, IL.

  • Our team embraces flexibility through a hybrid work model. In addition to working onsite at our facility in Peoria, IL, our hybrid work model allows employees the flexibility to work from home based on business need.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

  • This position requires up to 30% of working time travel, both domestic and international. Travel will consist of delivering training to dealers on test bench operations. Travel may also be needed to collaborate with the hydraulic vendors.

What You Will Do:

Hydraulic Test Bench (HTB) Procedures

  • Existing HTB documents (200+) will be reviewed and updated in alignment with NPI, test bench requirements, and safety guidelines.

  • Additionally, these instructions will establish test parameters and processes that are well documented and easy for dealers to understand and follow. Whenever possible, these procedures will utilize already existing tooling. If no other solution is possible, incumbent will assist Dealer Service Tool group to develop a new service tooling solution.

  • Required to maintain hydraulic test cell in accordance with all five-star CC standards as well as hydraulic test bench repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Dealer Training:

  • This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering training in Building LC, Peoria and onsite Dealer Training Worldwide for the use of the HTB for hydraulic pumps and motors.

  • Build dealer capability to help enable Services Growth for the target Hydraulics Pumps and Motors Lost Opportunity.

Dealer Product Support:

  • This role will also provide support to dealer through the Dealer Support Network (DSN) tickets, SIS Feedback Tickets, SID Revision Request, Direct Dealer Requests, and other systems.

  • This may include providing revised calculations, engineering guidelines, modified testing procedures, etc.

Project Management

  • This individual will manage multiple projects (CPI, SIB, NPI) of varying complexity at the same time. They will need to collaborate well to coordinate the arrival of needed test units, the schedule of the test bench, and allow for documentation time.

  • These projects will be expected to deliver on NPI deadlines (KPI >95% NPI on time).

  • Lead coordination efforts to support services growth for the dealers with lost opportunity while aligning with the Industries Go to Market (GTM) strategy.

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Bachelor or technical degree, or 4+ years equivalent work experience (mechanic/technician or technical writing)

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with the SIS authoring environment

  • Understanding of hydraulic systems and familiarity with hydraulic pumps and motors

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Skills):

  • Experience to test benches like Hydraulic Test Benches

  • Requires an understanding of basic Caterpillar engineering practices (prints, 1E specifications, EDS data)

  • Ability to read and understand engineering documents, blueprints, and graphics visualization

  • Experience in a mechanic/technician role

  • Capable of using a variety of complex systems/software to research product structures

  • Proven communications skills

  • Proven project management skills
