First Solar Inc Operations Manager – Module Operations in Perrysburg, Ohio

The position requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in engineering in a solar manufacturing environment. All stated experience must include PV module manufacturing. Stated experience must include: quality, cycle time and cost improvements using TOC, lean manufacturing, and kaizen concepts; inventory management and control; manufacturing equipment and processes; using IV data to analyze to drive technology needs; using device and encapsulation processes to drive factory metrics and device performance; leading Technical and Operational teams to develop strategies to improve factory performance; supporting and enabling new technology roadmaps, working directly with Development Engineering teams for both development and execution of the testing; developing and sustaining solution to customer complaints both internal and external; identifying IV misses such as Voc, Isc, ImaxP, VmaxP, Rsc, Roc and Fill Factor; identifying opportunities and developing business case to support leveraging TOC and Lean MFG principals; and leading teams and executing on metrics across multiple facilities on campus.

 

Job duties:

 

Oversee Site Plant's Module Operations activities with overall responsibilities for Operational Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Quality, Production (Throughput), Equipment Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Cost to P90 and meet customer. Lead a team of Area Managers responsible for Module Manufacturing operations in a thin-film photovoltaic manufacturing flow. Own the integrated Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, and key functions in Module Manufacturing Areas. Ensure that products and processes are introduced, and the designs are capable of being manufactured to meet the organization's objectives. Act as an advisor and coach concerning manufacturing related issues to facilitate teamwork and continuous improvement to management and the workforce. Control the AOP spending within approval budget and other operation-related activities. Deploy and provide leadership in continuous improvements, including leading/participating in global alignment activities. Establish and invests in training and development of associates, technical competencies, and standardize training programs for all plants.
