Description

Provides virtual psychiatric services to adolescents and children, for eight (8) hours per week.

Productivity

Provides virtual psychiatric services to adolescents and children as needed at multiple District 19 clinics.

? Provides or assures that all consumers receive appropriate medical & primary care screening, psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis, and that all medical/psychiatric care is appropriately & timely delivered. Problem Solving ? Establishes and modifies treatment plans including diagnosis.

? Monitors client's response to treatment including medication side effects and adverse reactions.

? Orders and interprets lab results. ? Completes prior authorizations and paperwork as requested.

? Demonstrates excellent customer service, professional communication, and teamwork.

? Participates in administrative and clinical staff meetings as required. Collaboration/Leadership

? Acts as District's 19 liaison with community physicians, hospital staff, and community organizations with regard to psychiatric services.

? Provides consultation to agency staff about clinical and medical services.

? Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and other medical providers, families, and community providers.

? Communicates assessment information, treatment planning, interventions and crisis needs with case managers, clinicians, supervisors, nurses, and stakeholders.

? Promotes integration of care through consultation and collaborative efforts.

Resource and Time Management

? Prescribe the latest in new psychotropic medication.

? Provide consultation and guidance for Primary Care Screening and Monitoring program.

? Coordinates special projects as needed to support medical and psychiatric service provision.

? Documents all services provided in consumer record on the same day that service is provided.

? Information entered correctly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with correct codes and services.

? Complies with all established legislation, mandate programs standards, and all District 19 Clinical Services requirements regarding consumer services and documentation of service delivery.

Quality Assurance

? Provides psychiatric involvement in the development and review of policies, procedures and protocol that govern care.

? Reviews Incident Reports as needed.

? Makes recommendations for continuous quality improvement.

? Functions as a change agent to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.

? Assists with acquisition of sample medications and management of pharmaceutical representatives.

? Must stay abreast of changes in laws, mandates, and regulations that impact practice and care delivery and recommend modifications to remain in compliance. Employee will conduct self in compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.

Position Requirements

Knowledge of principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatry, psychiatric illness and wellness; of different diagnoses, participating on multi-disciplinary teams, substance use assessment and interventions and how they impact treatment of persons with serious behavioral health concerns; prescribing the latest in new psychotropic medication; skills in psychiatric diagnosis (via assessment & evaluation), treatment, ordering and interpreting labs, consultation and collaboration with other mental health professionals.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or have current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) and current board certification or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Must possess and maintain prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia and active DEA registration. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Valid VA Driver’s License with acceptable motor vehicle record

PMHNP or Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy with a completion of an approved residency in psychiatry with license to practice in Virginia. Demonstrated experience in community mental health with persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use and co-occurring disorders preferred

Ability to consistently provide virtual services to multiple D19 clinic locations as required
