Summary:

  • The Director of Program Management is responsible for overseeing and driving the successful execution of data analytics projects and programs. The position is responsible for managing a team of program managers, ensuring effective stakeholder management, prioritization, optimal resource allocation, quality assurance, and timely project delivery. Additionally, you will collaborate with the AVP of Operations to identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement and contribute to the execution of strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Develop the data and analytics portfolio management strategy, including IT project management, coordination with other delivery teams, and communications with internal customers. Lead a team of program managers to develop data and analytics program portfolios and drive successful delivery. Develop and implement program management strategies, solutions, and performance metrics that align with organizational goals. Assess and, when appropriate, implement tools for program management.

  • Team Management: Lead, develop, and manage a team of program managers. Set high performance expectations and help team to achieve them. Create a positive team culture that promotes excellence and collaboration. Help individuals connect their work to Penn Medicine’s mission.

  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across Penn Medicine. Lead projects requiring coordination with cross-functional teams outside of PennDnA, ensuring seamless execution.

  • Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation to ensure the efficient use of talent and tools. Collaborate with PennDnA leaders on workforce planning and talent development.

  • Operational Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational improvement. Implement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations.

  • Strategy Execution: Assist the AVP of Operations in executing strategic initiatives for the department. Ensure alignment of project and program activities with overall organizational goals.

  • Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of project delivery. Conduct regular reviews and audits of ongoing projects to identify areas for improvement.

  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates to PennDnA leaders and key stakeholders on project and program statuses. Communicate effectively with executive leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree. (Required)

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in project management, preferably for a data analytics or technology team. Experience managing teams and large complex cross-functional projects. (Required)

  • Project Management Professional Certification (Preferred)

  • Expertise: Expert in managing multiple complex workstreams and delivering projects on time, on budget and at or exceeding quality standards. Applies knowledge to identify opportunities and develop solutions.

  • Team Management: Demonstrated performance developing high-performing teams, fostering a positive culture of continuous improvement.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work with a diversity of stakeholders, including senior leaders.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
