Community Legal Services, Inc. of Philadelphia (CLS) is a non-profit public interest agency providing free civil legal services to low-income Philadelphia residents. As the largest provider of free civil legal services in the Philadelphia area, CLS is both locally and nationally renowned as a premier legal services provider dedicated to ensuring access to justice for all low-income individuals and communities. CLS has ten legal units covering a wide range of civil legal services. CLS’s Human Resources Department is a dynamic team of individuals who support the people and culture of CLS by providing a wide variety of essential services to our 180+ employees. The HR team functions include payroll, benefits, hiring, onboarding and offboarding, maintaining personnel files, oversight of personnel policies, assisting with personnel matters, new employee orientation, performance management, and any other necessary HR tasks.

CLS is seeking an HR Generalist I/Hiring Coordinator to join our growing HR team.  This person will oversee CLS’s hiring functions and provide as needed administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer and other members of the HR team.  This person will work closely with and report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure that CLS’s hiring committees are fully supported and to ensure efficient, streamlined hiring processes for all CLS hiring.  This will be a full-time position requiring an in-office presence.  The Hiring Coordinator will provide administrative support at the professional level in some or all of the following areas: recruitment and hiring, onboarding and offboarding, scheduling, planning and executing new staff orientation and training, and any other administrative tasks in the HR department. This position requires an extremely detail-oriented and organized person who will maintain the highest standards of professionalism.  This position is housed within the HR department and therefore this person will routinely encounter highly sensitive and confidential information relating to our employees, we therefore are looking for someone who possesses impeccable professional judgment and exhibits a high level of tact and discretion. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. This position may be asked to provide administrative support and coordination to other management team members as the need arises.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Supports CLS hiring committees in all administrative needs around recruitment (point of contact for job fairs and career services departments), job postings (internal bids and external posts), scheduling candidate interviews, corresponding with candidates, managing administrative tasks in JazzHR, assisting with coordinating reference checks, and any other responsibilities as needed that may arise.

  • Conducts or supports obtaining background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Leads coordination of new hire orientation and supports onboarding functions.

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the HR department as directed which may include maintaining and organizing digital personnel files, triaging emails, scheduling meetings, preparing documents, filing, compiling and organizing information and data for review, and performing simple administrative tasks in the finance department or other operations departments.

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, and anti-discrimination training.

  • Handles simple employee inquiries about CLS policies and office procedures; collaborates on annual employee recognition and awards.

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the COO – i.e., calendar management and logistics, scheduling meetings, drafting and sending emails and other correspondence as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.  Will consider on the job HR experience and/or coursework.

  • Two years of human resources and/or administrative experience preferred.

Compensation/Benefits: This is a full-time position.
