University of Pennsylvania Outstanding Senior Environmental Health Scientist - Tenure Track in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology (CEET) at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position with tenure. We seek an outstanding senior scientist in environmental health sciences who has research expertise in one of the following domains: air pollution and lung health; environmental exposures & cancer; windows of susceptibility, environmental influences on reproduction & fetal development or environmental neuroscience, however other areas of interest will be considered. Individuals that conduct translational research on environmental exposures and human disease using animal models, human subjects or population-based approaches using “omics” approaches are of particular interest. Interest in translating research findings to vulnerable communities, policy makers and health professionals would be a strength. Applicants must have an M.D. Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities include sustaining an independently funded research program of national or international recognition in the discipline and the ability to lead multi-investigator research initiatives using the rich resources in the Center, Perelman School of Medicine and other Schools in the University, including the School of Nursing, The School of Veterinary Medicine and the Schools of Arts and Sciences.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching graduate or medical students in the School of Medicine.

The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Systems Pharmacology & Translational Therapeutics or another School of Medicine department that is consistent with the scientific expertise of the successful candidate. Opportunities for a secondary academic appointment in the Department of Medicine (within the Divisions of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine or Translational Medicine and Human Genetics), Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Informatics, the Department of Neurology or the Department of Pediatrics (based in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) are possible. Joint recruitment with the Abramson Cancer Center, Center for Research on Reproduction & Women’s Health is also possible.

Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology is Penn’s P30 Environmental Health Sciences Core Center and has enjoyed continued funding since 2006. A generous start-up package will be provided to the successful candidate.
