Indian Health Service Nurse (Clinical Coach) in Phoenix, Arizona

Summary This position is located at Phoenix Indian Medical Center providing services within the Integrated Surgical Services (ISS) Dept. Unique to the specialty of Perioperative Nursing, the nurse must have a working knowledge of all four units (OR, PACU, Pre-Op Planning, and Sterile Processing), in addition to thorough expertise in surgical procedures including the following specialties: General, Orthopedic, Podiatric, Gynecological, ENT, Ophthalmology, Endoscopy, Pediatric Dental, and Oral Surgeries. Functions independently in the role of clinical staff nurse providing direct patient care when staffing is needed in the OR. Maintains professional knowledge and competency in nursing through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, participation on organizational committees, and fulfilling requirements of Certified Operating Room Nurse certification. Maintains open communication channels between staff members, unit leadership, hospital executive leadership, Staff Development and the Education Department. Collaborates effectively with members of multidisciplinary teams in assessing, planning and implementing nursing intervention in management of patient's health care. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Program, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained OR Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below: Basic Requirements for the GS-03610-11 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Promotes the professional practice of nursing within a professional practice model that continuously integrates new knowledge, innovations, and improvements in clinical care. Addresses the specialized education and training needs of all nursing staff assigned to the Integrated Surgical (ISS), including new nurses, experienced nurse transitioning from another specialty, and experienced nurses integrating evidence-based practice changes. Serves as a clinical coach preceptor ensures nursing staff new to the specialty receive adequate preparation to function independently and to facilitate their transition to the specified ISS units.
