Responsibilities

The Department of Translational Neurosciences at the Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking a Research Technician I to join our team. Main responsibilities will include assisting with all aspects of small animal model research including husbandry of rodent colonies survival surgery behavior tests as well as tissue collection and processing for histology. Experience in molecular and cellular biology is a plus in which case candidate can assist in cell culture maintenance and basic DNA purifications and PCR reactions.

Skills needed include careful record keeping writing up laboratory procedures and conducting basic experiments to test new hypotheses. The candidate is also expected to participate in general duties of lab operations such as inventory keeping preparation of stock reagents/glassware. Active participation in lab meetings journal clubs and other lab events is required. Must be a team player and able to multitask.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Science or Biology required

1- 2 year experience working in a research lab setting.

Experience or background in neuroscience preferred but not required.

Experience in a research laboratory or equivalent is required.

Experience as an intern or student research technician is preferred.

Must have excellent math skills and fundamental knowledge and background in the biological sciences.

Pay Range

$17.12 - $23.54 /hour
