Responsibilities
As our ICU Nurse at SJHMC, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. The Medical / Surgical / Trauma ICU DEPARTMENT at Dignity Health St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center is a dynamic environment where you can pursue a highly challenging and rewarding career. We are committed to the highest level of patient satisfaction. Serving the critical care adult population, each dedicated unit consists of 8 beds and offers an exciting, challenging opportunity for nurses to care for the highest acuity patients in a 1:2 or 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. All units report to one nurse manager; nurses are hired specifically for each unit and have the unique opportunity to cross-train, opening doors for your professional advancement.
In this role, you are not just a nurse. You are a lifeline for your patients. Your ability to multitask and react will be heavily relied upon. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. Your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are not only impressive but also open doors for your professional advancement.
Responsibilities:
Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)

Qualifications
Minimum:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
AZ RN license
American Heart Association BLS certification
Preferred:
BSN
Professional certification in area of specialty
One year recent acute care experience
Pay Range
$32.50 - $58.90 /hour
