44 miles southeast of Little Rock, Pine Bluff is the tenth-largest city in the state of Arkansas and the county seat of Jefferson County. It is the principal city of the Pine Bluff Metropolitan Statistical Area and part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Pine Bluff Combined Statistical Area.

The Pactiv Evergreen Pine Bluff Paper Mill is located in Pine Bluff, Arkanas, less than an hour from Little Rock in scenic southeast Arkansas. It is the largest industrial employer in Jefferson County. Opened in 1958, Pine Bluff is the largest facility within Pactiv Evergreen and is home to the world's largest gable-top liquid packaging paperboard machine. In addition to producing paperboard for cartons, the facility also produces coated paper for magazines.

Responsibilities

The Buyer-PB Mill, reporting to the Procurement Mill Manager, is responsible for the management of materials and services at the paper mill including; supporting lead buyers during negotiation and execution of supply agreements, support the development and implementation of a category strategy, own supplier relationships, assist sourcing innovative technologies to differentiate Pactiv Evergreen and consistently deliver year-over-year savings to the bottom line.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Support sourcing strategies for services and materials at the paper mill

  2. Support negotiation of supply agreements with key suppliers & distributors resulting in measurable total cost benefits.

  3. Interface between global supplier base, New Product Development and Operations to identify new and innovative technologies

  4. Understand and bring market intelligence, supplier knowledge and a key understanding of the use of materials in the manufacturing process.

  5. Assist with development of supply recommendations

  6. Assist with establishing and defining Min/Max stocking strategies for materials and storeroom

  7. Work with Regulatory Affairs team and suppliers to ensure 100% regulatory compliance

  8. Support and assist lead buyers and management with invoice reconciliation and payment blocks

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Demonstrated ability to comfortably and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  2. Demonstrated ability to easily interface with plant personnel, manage projects and drive cost reductions and process improvements

  3. Analytical Skills – Must be able to relate & compare, securing relevant information and identifying key issues. This includes seeking and organizing information, and conducting relevant data analysis

  4. Financial & Qualitative Acumen – Demonstrate an understanding of the use, interpretation and impact of key quantitative and financial measures

  5. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while also delivering independent results and maintaining calm composure

Qualifications

Required:

  1. A four (4) year degree or higher in a related discipline

  2. 3-5 years work experience in a professional setting

  3. General understanding of supplier markets and ability to perform market analysis

  4. Strong Microsoft Office (Excel/PowerPoint/Word) and analytical skills

  5. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
