Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in Dr. Huaye Zhang's laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The primary research interest in the laboratory is to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and neurodegeneration, with a particular focus on the roles of cell polarity regulators. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Designs and leads the project as directed by the supervisor.
  • Prepares experimental data for publication and grant applications.
  • Maintains accurate records of laboratory notebooks and research activity. Reviews literature and prepares manuscripts and abstracts for submission.
  • Participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revisions where necessary and proposing new procedures where required. Contributes to the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department. As required, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.
  • Presents findings at national meetings.
  • Mentors graduate/undergraduate students.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related disciplines with a strong publication record and strong commitment to neuroscience research.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference for self-motivated, detail-oriented candidates with prior experience in mouse models, primary neuronal cultures, and live cell confocal and/or two-photon imaging.
  • Additional expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and virus production/intracranial injections is highly desirable.
