Quaker Chemical Site Engineer I in Pittsburg, California

Job Summary:

Quaker Houghton is the Chemical Manager selected to support a leading steel manufacturer. We collaborate with our customer to manage the chemicals and fluids used in the process of steel manufacturing. The Site Engineer supports the manufacturing process while identifying and implementing process improvements and cost savings.

Responsibilities:

§ Perform testing and collection of data, record and interpret results, and recommend corrective action.

§ Identify and implement improvement projects (safety, quality, cost, etc.) with co-operation of customer.

§ Assist in implementing the customer’s processes and the application of products.

§ Monitor and forecast product usage at the customer’s site.

§ Generate reports as necessary and communicate to the plant.

§ Support site Safety, Environmental and Responsible Care programs.

§ Work closely and provide guidance with site staff to support the customer’s site. Build and sustain strong customer relationships.

§ Communicate with clarity; good written, oral skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

§ Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or equivalent demonstration of knowledge and experience.

§ 1-2 years of experience handling chemicals and performing wet chemistry. Experience with ISO quality systems and involvement in safety program/policy implementation in an industrial setting.

§ Able to perform usage reporting, inventory and procurement management using JDE Edwards system information system.

§ Requires minimal support from manager. Possesses the ability to take direction and work independently; deal with pressure; and flexibility in dealing with unexpected situations while working independently.

§ Extensive customer interaction and ability to maintain customer satisfaction. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

§ Ability to don & wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required, and ability to traverse uneven, oily or slippery floor surfaces.

§ Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
