The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh is ranked in the top 10 of all Doctor of Physical Therapy programs in the 2024 US News and World Report Ranking of Best Graduate Schools. We offer an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, and post-professional programs leading to a Master of Science in Physical Therapy, PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, and dual DPT-PhD in Bioengineering degrees as well as post-graduate certificates. The DPT degree is delivered in both a residential and hybrid format.

Job Summary

Serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, advances the objectives and longer-term planning to support operational excellence. Manages operations related to academic programs and student services. Leads team and oversees the review and implementation of policies and procedures to achieve goals. Collaborates to improve the quality and effectiveness of programs. Aids senior leadership by writing complex reports and correspondences and managing simultaneous responsibilities.

Essential Functions

The Director will serve as a key member of the leadership team and oversee department operations related to academic programs, post-professional programs, human resources, student services, financial management and budgeting. The incumbent will serve as an advocate and supervisor for all administrative staff in the Department. The incumbent will develop process improvement plans, implement new initiatives, and provide organization and oversight for departmental committees.

Physical Effort

Position is sedentary: Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to reach and bend for office supplies, files and equipment. Must be able to lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
