Grants & Contracts Specialist III (Pre-Award) Job Summary

Prepares and submits moderately complex grant, contract, and budget proposals. Drafts and negotiates contractual arrangements, procurement proposals, subcontracts, and budgets. Conducts complex cost analyses and oversees invoice processing; analyzes financial documentation and reviews routine reports. Monitors grants, budgets, and contractual arrangements and prepares moderately complex pre-award applications and reports. Provides policy and procedural interpretation and resolves complex issues.

Essential Functions

    • Responsible for management of grant application activities for the Dept. of Pathology
    • Interacts with and serves as department liaison to the University Office of Research, department faculty and staff, as well as pre-award grant offices of other institutions nation-wide to ensure processing requirements are met
    • Initial entry and maintenance of all grant related information in Department Manager
    • Tracking of funded awards through the Office of Research to avoid delays in activations being completed
    • Assistance provided to new faculty regarding policy and readjustment of research focus of long-term faculty; respond to faculty requests for updated other support information and assist with updating biosketches as needed

Physical Effort

This position is primarily sedentary. However, some walking between departments is required.
