Position Summary

In this entry level position, the engineer assists in the design, testing, and analysis of electro-mechanical systems.  

Essential Functions

  • Leads small to moderate design projects under supervision

  • Confers with senior level engineers to clarify or resolve problems

  • Interfaces directly with Applications Engineers and senior level engineers to define and document project scope

  • Assists upper-level engineers with development and design of precision electro-mechanical systems using solid modeling and other design tools

  • Prepares technical documentation for use by Production in manufacturing precision electro-mechanical systems.

  • Troubleshoots problems in manufacturing or repair of electro-mechanical systems

  • Analyzes technical documentation and results to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications 

    Additional Duties

  • Assists with design modifications as needed

  • Travel, including trade shows and vendor visits

  • Assembly and testing of mechanical products

  • As assigned 

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills providing the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts with colleagues, vendors, and customers

  • Ability to independently complete individual project tasks when given direction on possible solutions and assistance with complex projects

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and training materials, general business periodicals, professional journals, and regulatory requirements

  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following Mechanical Engineering concepts:

  • Machine Design

  • Solid Modelling

  • Manufacturing processes, including machining and assembly 

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university

  • Zero to two years of related professional experience.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.

    Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment

  • May be required to sit for extended periods of time

  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
