The Position

The Associate Director of Enterprise Functions Insights & Analytics will provide holistic, insight-driven consultation and evidence-based strategic and tactical guidance to all levels of internal stakeholders via primary market research and secondary data analytics for Enterprise Functions (e.g. People & Organization, Finance & Operations, Legal, Compliance, etc.). This role will contribute to the development of the organizations strategic vision via in-depth data analytics and insights and develop innovative solutions to complex, unstructured problems with minimal guidance (75%).

Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director, Enterprise Functions Insights. Drive and/or support Global and US specific market research projects related to new therapy areas and oversee the work of support staff that will assist in the project execution and management of specific projects.

As well as working collaboratively with Global Researchers and Global and US portfolio and pipeline teams and BD Working Teams, while managing external relationships related to FBS and BD projects including interactions with professional services, secondary data vendors, junior market researchers, interns and/or contingent workers and consultants as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Development and execution of content with clear storylines, grounded on holistic business concepts and communicate key conclusions and business recommendations/implications (what/so what and now what) to business partners and peers through formal and informal channels

  • Analytical thinker and creative problem solver, ability to influence others with verbal and written communication

  • Ensures alignment of initiatives to the company’s overall business objectives and strategic imperatives

  • Responsible for key deliverables, including lead times for editing and approval processes; collaborates within Enterprise Insights and key stakeholders to proactively provide updates, while addressing areas of risk or opportunities, through clear communications

  • Supports and develops analyses for team and business partners and other business groups (e.g. identification of key performance indicators/leading indicators, ad-hoc customer segment-level reports and trend reports for internal teams)

  • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative marketing research projects through collaborating with data trends (i.e. prescriber, patient, payer, RWE data) to inform targeting and recruitment

  • Develop and sustain close working relationships with key stakeholders including core TA working teams (both Global and US), global market research, as well as other departments within NNI and global as needed

  • Ensure clear and ongoing communication of research results, key conclusions and recommendations through formal and informal channels

  • Interprets and contextualizes analytical findings within the framework of existing body of research and market trends

  • Ensure insight driven consultation to the TA working team through the development and execution of primary market research and secondary data analytics to drive evidence based strategic pre-launch planning and preparedness. Support the knowledge and experience building within a new therapy area, including identifying relevant market shaping activities

  • Supports development of distinct, actionable business recommendations and implications. Support insights and analytics team with the development and design of key lines of investigation via custom analysis and assessments utilizing relevant and appropriate data sources and business resource

  • Supports the development of innovative solutions to unstructured, complex problems

  • Supports the development of recommendations via presentations with clear storylines to communicate key conclusions and actionable recommendations through formal and informal channels

  • Supports the refinement of timely, on-going analysis and performance monitoring to concisely communicate relevant business issues

  • Actively demonstrates a strong leadership role across the organization by effectively promoting and engaging in close collaboration with key internal stakeholders

  • Proactively educates, shares information and acts as an experienced resource and strategic advisor

  • Insights and analytics:

  • Oversee the development of holistic and comprehensive market assessments and oversee other ad hoc analyses to proactively address issues in support of business objectives

  • Acts as primary focal point for Enterprise Function insight- driven strategic consultation

  • Set direction to enable the development and implementation of the insights and analytical plans which include marketing research and integrated analytics (national and sub-national) across patient, physician and partnering on payor / provider customers

  • Champion the implementation of agile, innovative and/or best practice market research and analytics tools, methods and approaches in order to increase timeliness, improve agility, and build competitive advantage

  • Demonstrate leadership in insight democratization

  • Leads the ongoing, proactive evaluation of market situation and changes to make relevant recommendations to CMR, Enterprise Functions and other parts of the organization

  • Defines priorities and Manages expectations across CMR and Enterprise Function stakeholders

  • Proactively identifies areas of opportunity to drive agility and competitive advantage

  • Advocate with other Enterprise Insights teams and Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics team members to broaden application of advanced data sciences, exploration of new methodologies, and pilot new insight sources with department partners including Data & Analytics Strategy, Strategic Market Intelligence, Commercial I&A, and Advanced Analytics

    Physical Requirements

    10-20% overnight travel required.

    Development of People

    Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

    Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

    Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

    Qualifications

  • Education Level: A Bachelors degree required; MS or MBA preferred

  • Experience Level: A minimum of 8 years of experience in primary market research or strategic consulting in a pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods, or marketing organization required

  • Specific or technical job skills: Ability to influence people at senior levels in the organization and facilitate cooperation of internal and external partners for both intelligence acquisition and recommendation acceptance

  • Creative problem solving with ability to solve complex, unstructured problems; see big picture from scattered pieces of information and present complex and disparate data in a clear and concise manner; must have an ability to see beyond the confines of MR data to broader business issues

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and provide recommendations that will assist in the development of commercial strategies

  • Excellent writing, presentation, project management and strong influencing skills required. Solid communications skills with ability to succinctly express point of view in various formats for a variety of deliverables to a diverse audience across multiple specialty areas

  • Ability to work with established data platforms

  • High proficiency with IMS data and other industry sources required

  • Networking - positively interacts with any relevant source of information. Builds strong relationships

  • Proven experience working cross functionally and partnering with brand teams and other groups within an organization

  • Proven search and research skills including experience with the use of online databases (scientific, business, patent, etc.)

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required

  • Highly proficient in integrating diverse sources of information and formulating business relevant strategic recommendations

  • Strong understanding of drug development, commercialization, and lifecycle management

  • Works independently and able to guide members of team toward achieving objectives and sets direction of self and others accordingly

  • Managerial experience (if applicable): Will be responsible for managing others in the future. Managerial experience is not required
