FlexStaff Inventory Planner - Food Industry Experience in Plainview, New York

FlexStaff is seeking an Inventory Planner for our client, a food importer located in Nassau County.

100% onsite Monday-Friday

The Inventory Planner is responsible for contributing to profit and growth of all channels of trade of the Wholesale Division by supporting the planning, purchasing and maintenance of effective inventory levels. The Planner coordinates purchases and manages inventory to achieve financial objectives (maximizing sales potential, minimizing loss from phase-outs and stock-outs) and works closely with Sales, Logistics, and Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Manages inventory based on customer usage, and contract programs

  • Monitors product flows from suppliers and provides visibility of future product availability.

  • Communicates with suppliers to ensure product specifications are met

  • Prepares and issues purchase orders

  • Monitors fulfillment of purchase orders and the on-time delivery of products

  • Reviews back-order and out-of- stock issues, and work with Logistics and Sales teams on solutions

  • Takes special actions to reduce obsolescence and excess inventory

  • Knowledge of product classification for duty purposes

  • Able to update Futures Database to reflect the most up to date information: ETD, ETA

  • Able to direct allocation of inventory based upon the most urgent demand source

Qualifications

  • Experience as Planner in food industry, wholesale or distribution strongly preferred

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills to provide statistics and metrics

  • Ability to turn data into useful insights with proven examples

  • Advanced Excel Skill set - ability/aptitude to learn/create spreadsheets using advanced formulas (Lookups, IF statements, pivot tables)

  • Excellent communication skills and coordination capabilities

  • Ability to drive conversation and influence peers

  • Ability to work and make informed decisions in fast paced environments

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000/year
