Fortive Corporation Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Supervisor in Plainville, Connecticut

The Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting the Controller in various financial and accounting functions within the organization. This position involves a combination of routine responsibilities and the ability to handle unscheduled tasks efficiently. The AP/AR Supervisor will be responsible for supervising all aspects of the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion of tasks. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, people management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable Management:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions.

  • Review and approve invoices for payment.

  • Maintain vendor relationships, including resolving inquiries and discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.

  • Develop and implement process improvements to streamline the accounts payable process, enhance efficiency, and improve days payable outstanding.

  • Accounts Receivable Management

  • Supervise invoicing, billing, and collections.

  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely and accurate invoicing and payment application.

  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve billing discrepancies and address customer inquiries.

  • Analyze aging reports and implement strategies to reduce outstanding receivables and improve days sales outstanding.

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports and analysis, including aging reports, cash flow projections, and vendor/customer performance metrics.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.

  • Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate risks associated with the AP AR functions.

  • Assist with audits, SOX, and internal/external inquiries, providing documentation and support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years in advancing responsibility accounting roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting

  • Strong understanding of GAAP

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - collaborative with internal/external customers, team members and cross-functional collaborators

  • Experience managing small teams

  • Effective communications skills – including written, verbal and listening skills

  • Organized, with a strong process and detail focus to deliver high quality and timely results

  • High energy, bias for action with continuous improvement approach; recognizes and resolves issues

  • Team-player with the ability and willingness to take on challenges

  • Excellent digital literacy, particularly MS Excel

  • ERP system experience (JDE ideal)
