Your Role at Raising Cane’s:

The Senior Manager of Public Relations is responsible for supporting all Cane’s initiatives at the local and national level ranging from new restaurant openings, activations, brand campaigns, and more. This role will help drive the brand narrative and generate coverage through the development of press releases, media, strategic pitch lists and more. The Senior Manager of Public Relations will also proactively monitor the media landscape for coverage and potential crises and will generate coverage reports on a biweekly and monthly basis.

Your Impact and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development of pitching strategies, media lists, and media materials for local (new restaurant openings, community events/fundraisers, local appearances, etc.) and national (activations, brand campaigns, flagships, etc.) news stories

  • Drafts media materials and written communications free of grammar, spelling and punctuation errors, consistent with Cane’s voice and key messaging by way of media alerts, press releases, email pitches, etc.

  • Monitors and audits media coverage daily to help inform content and strategies for future pitches, identify potential crises, and story-mine for new opportunities based on current media landscape and trending topics

  • Develops briefing documents and talking points for media opportunities

  • Coordinates local media opportunities stemming from national campaigns/pitching efforts, working closely with agency and local teams for on-air opportunities and food drops

  • Researches potential talent/partnerships and assists with contract negotiation

  • Assists in managing key local and national media relationships across a variety of verticals including entertainment, sports and lifestyle to help build and maintain reporter relationships and lay foundation for future coverage

  • Serves as Cane’s media contact for local and national inquiries

  • Compiles biweekly and monthly reports for local teams and leadership

  • Develops strategies to further local and national storytelling by refining current processes and problem solving through testing and implementation of new strategies and approaches

  • Assists in managing relationship with PR agency

Requirements for Success:

  • 7+ years of experience in public relations supporting restaurant, food & beverage, retail or packaged goods industries

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills with minimal to no errors and exceptional attention to detail for grammar, spelling and punctuation, and AP Style

  • Proven experience with successfully pitching stories and maintaining relationships with media

  • Proven experience successfully managing media for multiple campaigns/activations at once and engaging agents and publicists

  • Proven experience managing celebrities and influencers, negotiating contracts, auditing talent, and managing publicists

  • Highly flexible with strong ability to plan, multitask and prioritize competing work in order to accommodate rapid changes to campaigns, strategies, and activations

  • Trustworthy and aware of risks associated with disclosing confidential information

  • Excellent storyteller through press releases and pitches for media; ability to write creatively and embody Cane’s voice with minimal errors

  • High sense of urgency and strong organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met and accountability is maintained personally and across the team/agencies

  • Act as a role model, impart knowledge when appropriate, and consistently positively represent and live Cane’s brand, team and values

  • Positive attitude with team player mentality, working together to better the organization

  • Able to maintain exceptional quality of work, free of errors, while traveling

  • Able to work effectively and efficiently both independently and collaboratively, maintaining strong working relationships with fellow crew, stakeholders, and external partners being mindful of interactions and how they impact the brand and team’s reputation

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) with advanced experience in MuckRack, Cision, and other PR tracking tools

  • Able to work out of our Plano, TX office and travel up to 75%

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, business or marketing
