- Operates the specific vehicles used for the project work in their field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Paver Operator Main Responsibilities
Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
Observes safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials accurately
Operates commercial asphalt paver, including providing direction and hand signals to drivers and other employees on the paving crew
Directs materials supply trucks into hopper
Operates other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
Performs minor equipment maintenance inspections such as greasing, checking oil and fluids
Drives company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized
Performs other tasks as assigned
Paver Operator Skills
3-5 years of related experience and/or training in operation of a commercial paver and related equipment preferred.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Paver Operator Physical Requirements
Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Regularly required to climb on and off equipment and walk across uneven terrain
Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
Frequent exposure to loud noise
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
Valid drivers license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history is required.
