Position Summary (A Day in the Life):
Performs job duties with direction of Plant Manager, responsible for mechanical work, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on a variety of machine and support equipment. Helps build, rebuild, relocate and install plant equipment. Also assists in maintaining the overall facility needs.
Job Duties:
HACCP Team Member in which duties include ordering and maintaining machine parts, reporting any machinery updates and/or changes to the team. Assists with the Chemical Control Program per our HACCP and Product Safety Programs.
Product Safety Team member in which duties include ordering machine parts and reporting any machinery updates and/or changes to the team. Assists with updating and maintaining the company’s Chemical Control Program.
Performs and completes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly preventive maintenance program on all equipment within the facility.
Completing preventive maintenance logs on all equipment.
General maintenance on all production equipment, as needed.
General building maintenance (heating/cooling, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) as needed.
Helps install new equipment within the facility.
Works with outside general contractors on special projects.
Report deficiencies (plumbing, bolts, gages, cylinders, etc.) found on the equipment or around the facility to the Maintenance Manager.
Help monitor/maintain a spare part inventory.
Keep shop and stockroom clean and in an orderly condition at all times.
Maintain shop equipment in a safe operating condition.
Assists in maintaining the inventory/part checkout sheet.
Perform or help perform equipment rebuilds as required on all production equipment.
Ensure that all company tools are kept in good safe working condition and that they are returned to their proper place, after each use.
Assist co-workers where needed.
Experience/Education:
High school graduate or equivalent (GED), and a demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English. Technical School training or equivalent experience.
Must have working knowledge of HVAC (refrigeration, heating and cooling) systems.
Must have working knowledge in plumbing.
Must be able to safely and effectively use a variety of hand tools.
Must be able to operate Volt/Ohms meter, micrometers, calculator, and be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment.
Must be able to operate shop equipment (lathe, mill, grinder, saws, etc.)
Must be willing to receive forklift training and receive Parker Plastics forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
Mechanic must have positive attendance points to continue cross training program.
Physical Requirements:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
