Robert Half Paralegal in Pleasanton, California
Description
We are partnering with a well-respected Disability Services and Support organization based in Pleasanton, CA, to bring on a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Paralegal with expertise in disability law. This part-time, temporary role will support the organization’s legal team in ensuring program compliance, investigating billing discrepancies, and preparing for potential hearings over a 3-month duration. Candidates must be based in the Bay Area for monthly onsite requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with legal matters related to California Department of Developmental Services (DDS), focusing on disability services.
Conduct internal audits and inquiries into billing discrepancies, supporting compliance with DDS guidelines and Regional Center protocols.
Work alongside the lead attorney to prepare for hearings and address program-related complaints.
Perform legal research and document preparation, with a specific focus on the Self Determination Program (SDP) and collaboration with Financial Management Services (FMS) companies handling DDS payments.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Strong background in disability law, especially with California DDS cases.
Familiarity with Regional Centers of California, including program guidelines and compliance requirements.
Understanding of the Self Determination Program (SDP) and FMS companies managing DDS and Regional Center payments.
Highly organized, with excellent research and analytical skills.
Paralegal certification is a plus.
Experience in preparing documentation for hearings or managing compliance inquiries within the disability law sector.
This is a part-time, remote position with flexible hours. Candidates must be Bay Area-based for monthly onsite meetings in Pleasanton, CA.
Compensation is competitive and based on experience.
