University of Maine System Student Accounts Analyst in Portland, Maine

The University of Southern Maine is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Student Financial Services team as a Student Accounts Analyst. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of student accounts and ensuring the smooth processing and reconciliation of funds within the University’s accounting system.

This includes overseeing the distribution and reconciliation of payments, ensuring accurate journal entries and financial reporting, verifying payments, processing tuition waivers, and supporting the Early College Program by maintaining account accuracy and reconciling tuition charges. Additionally, the analyst handles refund processing, monitors uncashed checks, and assists with alternative loan postings. They also contribute to credit card fee management, graduate assistantship fund processing, and provide backup support for front-counter operations when needed.

From financial aid to billing and payment, the office aims to helps students navigate the financial aspects of their education, making it more accessible and manageable.

This is a full-time, on-site position based primarily on our Gorham campus. The salary is $43,660.

Required:

  • Aptitude for accounting and bookkeeping principles.

  • Detail oriented and ability to interpret data and metrics.

  • Proficiency with Excel.
