Portland General Electric Sr. Manager Community Engagement in Portland, Oregon

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement Leads the community engagement team to engage community members and organizations representing environmental justice communities and other diverse constituencies to inform company economic, operational and policy decisions that consider community needs, reduce barriers to participation, and create equitable access to a clean energy future. This includes oversight of the utility’s recently launched Community Benefits and Impacts Advisory Group and other statutory and regulatory requirements related to community engagement.

Economic Impact Develop and implement strategies that bring economic benefits of the clean energy transition to the entire community through supporting the expansion of diverse suppliers and the implementation of community benefit plans that may be required by federal grants. This also includes overseeing creation and implementation of a robust supplier diversity program, working with the company’s power origination team to facilitate the growth of community-based renewable energy, as well as overseeing initiatives that facilitate growth of the clean energy workforce and our responsible contractor policy.

Public Affairs Member of the Policy and Planning leadership team and company senior leadership team. This includes being a key representative of the company in the community, which may include preparing or overseeing preparation of testimony, letters, reports, filings, and public presentations. Must ensure accurate maintenance of departmental systems and procedures.

Functional Leadership Exercises comprehensive functional and industry knowledge in specialized areas; identifies and resolves complex multidimensional business problems; exercises delegated authority over planning, direction and timely execution for a functional area or program; establishes and maintains contacts with management levels within and outside the company and at government agencies and with industry experts in accomplishing function or program objectives.

Resourcing Oversees workforce planning and resource strategy across multiple departments, ensuring that there is adequate skilled resource to meet planned service delivery or department objectives; ensures integration with strategic human resource plans; responsible for recruitment, development and demand forecasts for multiple departments.

Professional Development Determines organizational development needs in line with business needs and strategic direction of departments; generates development strategies to achieve required change; monitors progress and evaluates business benefits achieved.

Education/Experience/Certifications

Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in political science, sociology, environmental science, economics, business, engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.

Experience Typically 10 or more years in a combination of roles demonstrating leadership and engagement with diverse communities, including roles in: community engagement or community relations, communications, public policy, government affairs, and/or business development. Experience/knowledge working with diverse constituencies in a regulated environment.

Compensation Range:

$139,230.00 - $258,570.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
