Princeton University is in search of a proactive, skilled, dynamic, and adaptable nursing expert to join our team at University Health Services. Infirmary Services are available from August through May, closed in June and July.

The role is an 80% duty time position, 32 hours per week. It is a night shift position (11p-7a) and includes every other weekend.

University Health Services (UHS) at Princeton University is a fully accredited (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, or “AAAHC”) health care facility. Located in the McCosh Health Center, the Caldwell Field House and Dillon Gym, UHS provides comprehensive health services to more than 7,500 Princeton undergraduate and graduate students, and specialized services to Princeton University faculty, staff, and employees who experience work-related injuries and illnesses, or who require consultations regarding international and travel medicine.

Responsibilities
  • * Conduct telephone and in-person triage based on established protocols
  • * Conduct independent nurse appointments for students not necessitating a provider visit
  • * Provide assistance to Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants
  • * Assess patients with urgent complaints and oversee them until disposition or medical evaluation.
  • * Administer treatments and medications.
  • * Deliver patient education.
  • * Perform point-of-care testing.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • * Possession of a valid New Jersey state licensure as a Registered Nurse (in good standing).
  • * Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience
  • * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • * Experience in triage and/or emergency department settings.
  • * Current certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • * Proficient in fundamental nursing tasks, including venipuncture, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections; nebulizer treatments; wound care; and infection prevention measures.
  • * Ability to independently conduct detailed physical assessments and identify normal and abnormal signs and symptoms.
  • * Capability to dispense treatment and medication as per predetermined protocols.
  • * Physical agility to move and assist patients
  • * Aptitude for independent decision-making.
  • * Comfortable delegating tasks to others.
  • * Ability to maintain composure and efficiency in stressful situations.
  • * Efficient utilization of human and material resources.
  • * Strong focus on customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • * Prior experience in a college health setting.
  • * ACLS Certification.
  • * Supervisory experience working autonomously.
