About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Conflict of Interest and Research Integrity (Assistant Director), the Research Compliance Analyst is a key contributor to Brown’s Conflict of Interest (COI) program. They facilitate annual and ad hoc faculty COI reporting and disclosure, triage and review cases involving potential conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment, support the Conflict of Interest Review Board (COIRB), record meeting minutes, and implement and monitor conflict management plans. The Research Compliance Analyst has a working knowledge of all applicable COI regulations and policies and is adept at applying these to COI cases at Brown. They keep abreast of developing regulations in this area and assist the Assistant Director with the development of new policies and educational and training materials on conflict of interest. The Research Compliance Analyst provides advice to faculty and researchers regarding proposed outside activities and potential impact on University COI policies, gives presentations to faculty, researchers, students and staff on conflict of interest regulations and policies, and presents COI cases to the COI faculty committee. They also liaise with other offices within the University to manage non-research related conflicts. In addition, the Research Compliance Analyst will support for Brown’s Research Integrity program, providing assistance to Research Misconduct proceedings.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred) and 3-5 related experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience)

  • Experience working in an academic setting is required.

Job Competencies

  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Conflict of Interest regulations and policies.

  • Demonstrated ability to write cogent, concise and detailed communications and policies/procedures.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills required, particularly as it relates to conveying complex regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, multitask effectively, work independently and work interdependently.

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office; precision and accuracy in data entry and written communications; exceptional oral and written communication skills are required.

  • The Research Compliance Analyst must be able to collaborate with individuals at all different levels of the organization with a high level of diplomacy and professionalism and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Must be able to operate specialized software (e.g., InfoEd, Huron) with proficiency or have the ability to learn.

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
