Intermountain Health Patient Equipment Care Specialist in Provo, Utah

Job Description:

This position acts as a transportation coordinator to help Intermountain Healthcare achieve its mission through the timely and efficient delivery of items. The coordinator functions in at least one of five areas as assigned. The five areas are: Dispatch, Training, Vehicle Maintenance, Administrative and Logistics.

Pay Rate : $18.58 + depending on experience

Shift Details : Full Time- 40 hours/week

9:00am - 5:30pm (1 day will be 12:00pm - 8:00pm)

Working call 1 night a week and 1 weekend a month minimum*

Job Essentials

  1. Responsible to perform one or more of the following:

a. May act as a dispatcher to coordinate driver activities to fulfill the needs of customers by receiving incoming calls from customers and other stakeholders and appropriately assigning drivers to meet those needs.

b. May coordinate and participate in training with individual and small groups of employees, teaching and reinforcing department procedures. Provides feedback to employees and managers to improve individual and department performance.

c. May coordinate the maintenance and repair of vehicles. Ensures that vehicles are safe, available and ready for drivers as necessary.

d. May coordinate and support billing, accounts payable, customer service, payroll, building scheduling, information systems, technology and compliance.

e. May coordinate day to day employee activities for regularly scheduled routes by developing employee work schedules, auditing route performance, and identifying possible improvement opportunities. Acts as a back up to drivers, coordinators, and managers to ensure daily commitments to customers are fulfilled.

  1. Safely operates a motor vehicle in a variety of conditions and environments to complete deliveries of equipment, packages, specimens and supplies. Stays aware of conditions and circumstances that affect one's own safety or the safety of others. Protects the physical well-being of personnel and self against work related accidents, injuries or other debilitations.

  2. Makes customers needs a primary focus of one's actions; shows interest in and understanding of the needs and expectations of internal and external customers; gains customer trust and respect; meets or exceeds customer expectations; shows willingness to gather and listen to customer feedback.

  3. Cleary conveys and receives information and ideas in a manner that engages the listener, helps them understand and retain the message, and invites response and feedback. Keeps others informed as appropriate.

  4. Manages time effectively and accomplishes assigned tasks. Organizes work, sets priorities and determines the correct use of resources. Determines necessary sequence of activates to achieve goals.

  5. Supports department goals and objectives. Takes action without being asked or required to; achieves beyond job requirements; acts proactively; takes prompt action to accomplish objectives. Works cooperatively in a diverse team environment to accomplish team and organizational goals; works with employees within and across his/her department to achieve shared goals; treats others with dignity and respect and maintains a friendly demeanor; vales the contributions of others.

  6. Adjusts to dynamic business needs and conditions. Adjusts appropriately to the needs of the situation with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives; adapts to change quickly and easily; makes suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of change; shows a willingness to learn new methods, procedures or techniques results from change.

  7. Uses a computer and related applications to accurately input, store and retrieve information relating to customers, employees and vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions.

  • A DOT Medical Card

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow assigned schedule.

  • Demonstrated ability to use computerized tracking system.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow department procedures and practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to comply with Intermountain Healthcare's Motor Vehicle Driver Policy.

  • Valid CDL Medical Card.

  • Be 21 or older as required by the DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle.

  • Pass a driver's road test as required by DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle.

  • Demonstrated ability to use basic office, dispatch and email programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and deal with stressful situations.

  • Six months experience as a transportation driver with Intermountain Healthcare.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$18.66 - $25.33
