Principal Technical Program Manager

Overview

The Regional Solutions program is part of Mastercard Markets and Localization team, responsible for driving the identification of new opportunities across different markets and building bespoke solutions and integrating with the wider Mastercard products and services.

Under the Regional Solutions umbrella we work with multiple markets across the globe providing technology guidance and building solutions to address market needs not met by existing MA global products. The program currently supports multiple Mobile Wallet solutions across Middle East and Africa, in addition to supporting services in Asia-Pacific and Americas.

Technical Program Managers are at the heart of Mastercard’s program management framework. A strategic partner delivering critical national infrastructure solutions and services to our Product Delivery Programs.

As a Principal, Technical Program Management at Mastercard, you will be expected to perform the following general duties:

• Work with business/product owners on one hand and architects and engineers on the other to drive the definition and implementation of the product

• Own the program management and budgeting for one or more services within the program

• Guide the teams on a business-value driven approach to all technology decisions

• Provide people leadership and mentoring to the team

• Work closely with Technology and Business partners and help ensure seamless coordination and collaboration across them, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery

• Ensure that staff has skills and behaviours to perform tasks fully through effective communication of goals, objectives, performance and as necessary improvement plans.

• Think strategically, but stay on top of tactical execution rigorously inspecting the delivery plans and execution metrics of your TPMs using your own tech depth and business acumen to assess risks and continuously raising the delivery bar

• Own the ALM lifecycle activities, metrics and drive improvements and maturity.

All About You

Education / Certification

Bachelor’s Degree in related functional area or equivalent work experience with exposure to management theories and concepts

Certified in SAFe Methodologies as Release Train Engineer and/or Program Consultant

Expertise

• Experience in technical program management or similar experience.

• Experience in implementing projects and programs at an Enterprise level.

• Deep experience with each stage of the software development lifecycle and product delivery lifecycle.

• Experience in practicing agile, with the ability to adjust and apply the mindset effectively based on current needs and team dynamics.

• Experience with program management tools; Rally/Application Lifecycle management experience preferred.

• Experience preparing & delivering executive level presentations to business and technology audiences

• Demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment.

• Ability to lead people and processes without direct authority.

• Proven track record of data driven decision-making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams.

• Ability to master technical subjects and technologies relevant to the program.

• Knowledge of financial domain, preferably in the Payments space

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Has experience in leading and coaching teams to perform software planning and estimation for large scale complex programs
