Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

SERVICE: Provides direct services to clients in the Family Planning, Primary Care, IPO and STD clinics in DOG Gadsden.

  • Provides comprehensive assessments of client’s physical, social, and environment status.

  • Provides comprehensive physical examinations according to establishes program protocols.

  • Provides medical management diagnosis, treatments, and procedures.

  • Provides documentation of all services, assessments, treatments, and procedures

    COUNSELING AND EDUCATIONS:

  • Promotes basic health principles in preventive health care to provide for client’s optimum health and safety.

  • Counsels clients regarding findings of examinations and interprets laboratory data.

  • Provides group and individual presentations to clients seeking services in family planning, maternity and sexually transmitted diseases.

  • Provides individual instruction to clients regarding prescribed medications.

  • Provides consultation and training to other CHD staff and community groups.

  • Attends appropriate staff meetings, conferences and trainings to update job skills.

  • Maintains professional competency through participation in appropriate program updates.

    CONSULTATION:

  • Serves as a resource person for technical knowledge in the field of primary care or other nursing specialists.

  • Provides consultation and technical assistance in evaluating the appropriateness of client care as it relates to primary care by Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners.

  • Supervises the delivery of health services by Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and monitors professional methods and techniques.

  • Instructs Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners in skills and abilities needed to upgrade their competencies.

  • Assesses the overall delivery of care in a setting and designs, implements and monitors corrective action plans.

    PLANNING AND COORDINATION:

  • Makes recommendations to improve and enhance client services and clinic flow.

  • Develops client care based on assessment of individual needs and available resources to meet goals.

  • Maintains contact and coordinates services with other agencies and providers.

  • Serves as contact and education resource for clients and staff in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Participates in agency conferenced to evaluate problems and solutions regarding client care and clinic flow.

  • Serves on agency committees as requested.

  • Supervises clinical nursing staff in DOH Gadsden that includes, but is not limited to, communicating with direct reports, performing performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, approving timesheets in People First and approving EARs in HMS. Has the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary actions or effectively recommending such actions.

    SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAM in DOH GADSDEN:

  • Supervises the work of licensed professional and paraprofessional staff.

  • Monitors the quality of care/or the standards of practice to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

  • Gathers and assesses data and utilizes data analysis for continuous quality improvement. Involves staff in ongoing improvement efforts.

  • Works with Sr. Community Health nurse to prepare and justify budget. Monitors, analyzes and coordinates expenditures within allocation for the School Health Program.

  • Conducts programmatic evaluations and writes reports of finding, recommendations, and corrective action plans.

  • Recruits, selects, and trains staff.

    EVALUATION:

  • Reviews client records for appropriate medical record entries and content.

  • Assists in the collection of statistical and evaluation information to assure objectives are met and standards maintained.

  • Complies and completes reports required by the agency to reflect data requested.

  • Reviews incoming lab slips and assures that follow up is done on abnormal results.

    Performs other duties as assigned. Correctly completes inputs and submits Timesheets and EARs in Accordance to requirements.

    Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing or a related field and three years of professional responsible experience as a public health nurse including two years of supervisory, administrative, consultative, or educational public health nursing experience and licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, public health, or a related field can substitute for one year of the required professional nursing experience.
