Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall functioning of the Nursing Department. As a Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting with the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission of the hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, plans, evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the patient's pathway to achieve identified outcomes

  • Participating in planning For OR cases

  • Responsible for effective management of labor/productivity of team.

  • Responsible for efficient and effective patient care and quality improvement.

  • Assists with the development and monitoring of the standards of assigned areas.

  • Utilizes appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible.

  • Participates in performance improvement projects, assisting with audits and the development of performance improvement plans.

  • Assists in determining facility goals and effectively manages resources to achieve the goals.

  • Provides immediate mentoring/coaching to teammates as needed.

  • Ensures patient and department needs are met in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.

  • Maintains a collegial relationship with physicians to ensure quality patient care.

  • Demonstrates respect for co-workers and develops positive working relationships.

  • Communicates appropriately and effectively with patients, physicians, and other teammates.

  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.

  • Leads in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.

  • Performs activities and job duties under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

  • Responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.

  • Understands the high standards of an ASC setting.

  • Promotes a safe environment and a culture of safety in both the Operating Room and throughout the facility.

  • Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, being aware of and controlling hazards which may endanger patients, visitors, and teammates.

  • Assumes some responsibility of the Director of Nursing and/or the Pre-Op/PACU Manager in his/her absence

  • Assist in OR as needed based on census and staffing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Assumes a leadership role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving services within the nursing department

  • Demonstrates continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position

  • Supervises the smooth functioning of the unit on assigned shift

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course.

  • CNOR preferred

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and/or BSN, Master's degree in Nursing/Management preferred.

  • Current RN Licensure in the state of North Carolina

  • 2-5 years OR experience, preferably in an ASC.

  • At least one year of management, team lead, or charge nurse experience preferred

  • Current CPR
