Insight Global Radiation Effects Test Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Job Description

An employer is looking for a Radiation Effects Test Engineer in Redmond, WA. A Radiation Effects Test Engineer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of radiation testing. This includes, working with design and radiation effects engineers to write test plans, develop hardware and test scripts for test targets and equipment, dry-run test hardware, and travel to test facilities to conduct testing. The Engineer will also be responsible for reviewing post-test data and creating documentation that summarizes the results of the test.

Expectations for work performance shall include but not be limited to:

Work with design and radiation engineers to develop radiation test plans on electronic components

Coordinate with 3rd party vendors and laboratories to prepare components for radiation test

Design test boards:

Coordinate with design engineers and/or review schematics to determine electrical specifications

Design test board schematics using standard schematic capture tools

Lead design reviews and coordinate with layout engineers for PCBA design

Run test sequences through dry-runs in preparation for off-site radiation testing

Travel to heavy ion, proton, and gamma ray testing facilities throughout the United States to conduct testing.

Maintain an inventory of components stored by the Radiation Team

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience

Experience reading Schemas and doing data reviews

4+ years of experience in hardware development or test engineering

Working knowledge of Python and/or LabView

Knowledge on using basic test equipment such power supplies, data acquisition units, electronic loads, and spectrum analyzers. Experience with NASA, Defense or Commercial Space programs

Experience with radiation effects testing of electronics

Experience with data visualization tools such as Grafana

Knowledge of AWS tools such as S3 and DynamoDB null
