This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Finance Manager - Revenue Recognition professional to work in a high performing team at a world class company. The Microsoft Corporate Accounting Revenue Recognition team is responsible for the reporting accuracy of billions of dollars of revenue across the world for both United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local statutory reporting. The Deal Manager is the key finance person responsible for evaluating strategic customer deals and partnerships. They are accountable to 1) Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 2) Build relationships with key stakeholders to influence deal structure during the negotiation process and create solutions to enable complex deals
This position requires a driven, self-starter capable of effectively prioritizing and operating with a high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced and changing environment. The Senior Finance Manager - Revenue Recognition will consult with finance business partners on complex deals, and proactively identify areas. The Strategic Ventures team has high visibility to senior-level management across the business groups, Deal Desk, Microsoft Business Operations (MBO) and Corporate Accounting
This role requires communication skills that create clarity and drive seamless stakeholder engagement to support Microsoft’s commercial strategy, and deliver revenue results aligned to Microsoft compliance and technical accounting policies.

Responsibilities
Evaluate complex customer agreements and documenting the proper technical revenue conclusions in accordance with ASC 606 MSFT revenue policies, and customer/field intent.
Develop and maintain depth and breadth of knowledge over MS products, services and assigned customer relationships.
Identify non-standard + non- revenue focused technical accounting considerations within a commercial deal construct for further consideration by the technical accounting team.
Advise key stakeholders and engaging with senior leaders across multiple orgs (Deal Desk, Sales, Sales Finance) of the revenue recognition implications of custom solutions and negotiated customer contractual terms
Partner with Microsoft Business Operations to design and enable custom solutions for negotiated contractual terms including sku creation, invoicing, collections, payments, procurement, tax.
Track and follow up on commitments to ensure customer awareness and compliance with contractual commitments
Participate in cross-team initiatives towards process improvements and efficiencies by incorporating business partner and team feedback and industry best practices.
Identify and leverage technology to automate and innovate internal processes

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience
OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 3+ year(s) accounting or finance experience
OR equivalent experience.
Experience with ASC 606 and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 7+ years accounting or finance experience
OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 6+ year(s) accounting or finance experience.
Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
Experience with software and technology industry
Ability to collaborate and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organizations, and creating effecting partnerships
Organizational skills, ability to prioritize competing projects and adhere to deadlines
Highly adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an emphasis on quality
Proficient written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple groups
Accounting IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
