Do you enjoy tackling technical challenges and producing innovative solutions to real-world problems? We are looking to hire a Software Engineer II to come join the AI Platform team in Microsoft. You will be working along the best AI/ML engineering, science, and product talent in the industry and engaging with the largest, most complex customers and independent software vendors (ISVs) in the world.

The AI Platform organization at Microsoft has the charter to bring the best of our AI & Research assets, tools and cloud infrastructure, rich data, and trusted position together, to deliver AI and ML services and solutions to customers. The mission of the AI Customer Experience Engineering (CxE) team within the AI Platform organization is to co-innovate, incubate, and improve our core AI platform from scenarios utilizing Azure Cognitive Services like Azure OpenAI/ChatGPT, and Azure ML. We do so by building and infusing AI technologies in real world solutions and extending the signals from real world patterns to building robust, scalable AI platform services and products. To achieve this, we are co-innovating AI and ML powered solutions (rich APIs (application programming interfaces), ML models and end to end services) with our strategic ISVs and Enterprise customers, leveraging many other Azure technologies, including Azure core services and Python/C# microservices.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer II who can work across Cloud services, on-prem systems and edge hardware.

  • Designing software components and solutions, quickly learn about new services & technologies, and utilize them in the systems being designed.

  • Passion for solving customer problems in a collaborative manner, desire to work on leading-edge technologies, and good communication skills.

  • The role involves a fair amount of technical leadership and customer engagement in solving complex problems with the customer/partner.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C++, C#, Java or Python, OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ years of experience working collaboratively with technical people outside your team (customers or engineers/PMs)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), OpenAI GPT(Generative Pre-trained Transformer models), Azure AI Services, and Machine Learning techniques.

  • 3+ years of systems and services programming (C++, C# or Java)

  • Proven technical problem solving, software design, and implementation skills as evidenced by prior projects.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
