Actalent Senior Research Associate in Redwood City, California

Description:

This role will be for the Analytical Chemistry Department. The Analytical Chemistry Senior Research Associate / Chromatography Specialist will primarily carry out prep SFC and HPLC on drug discovery compounds to support our internal drug discovery programs, followed by QC of purified compounds using LCMS and NMR.

Responsibilities:

Operate analytical and prep SFC and LCMS, and NMR

Perform purification and isolation of synthetic final products and intermediates using prep SFC and HPLC

Perform QC (LCMS, NMR, chiral purity assessment by SFC) on purified compounds

Enhance productivity and efficiency through workflow improvements and automation

Assist in lab maintenance

Crosstrain in the areas of Physicochemical Properties analysis

Chemistry, chromatography, HPLC, organic chemistry, SFC, LCMS, agilent, waters, bruker, NMR

Qualifications:

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

BS or BA in Chemistry or Biochemistry

At least one year of experience post-undergraduate degree working in a chemistry lab - having worked in a biotech or pharma chemistry lab desirable in particular handling organic solvents and reagents

Chromatography experience

Team player and good communication skills required

Detail oriented and well-organized critical

Experience with Microsoft Office products required

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

Analytical and prep LCMS on Agilent and/or Waters systems

Analytical and prep SFC on any system

Some exposure and understanding of development of chromatographic methods

Experience with Agilent, Waters, Bruker software and other analytical instrument software a plus

Lab automation skills; experience using liquid handlers

NMR experience; running Bruker NMR spectrometer, interpreting data
