GE Vernova Technical Application Engineer - Sub-Regional Manager in Remote, Alberta

You will be responsible for providing management and technical leadership to the Sub-regional Technical Application team and the utilization of that team for resolution of customer issues and to drive the technical sales. #LI-ML2

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train application engineers across the Sub-region.

  • Acts as expert consultant to guide customers in planning and development of technical solutions.

  • Develop and implement training and progression plans for new TAE hires and junior TAEs.

  • Enforce work processes for the TAE team across the sub-region.

  • Identify and implement process improvement for TAE team customer engagements.

  • Work with Product Sales Specialists, Business Development Salesmen, and Regional Leaders to develop customer strategies and implement those strategies. Lead application team in the implementation of the technical side of those strategies.

  • Develop content and lead regional technical seminars and conferences.

  • Provide market dynamics input such as competitive intelligence and industry trends to the business Growth Leaders

  • Prepare and present technical presentations, white papers, and case studies at industry conferences. Mentor team members as a co-author to grow this skill among team members.

  • Partner with peers and management to enhance selling techniques and approaches in line with both the region's growth objectives and Grid Solutions initiatives

  • Lead technical presentations presented to customers in support of sales or service.

  • Works with customers to understand problems and consults to solve problems based on GE solutions. Work with region growth leaders to develop product strategies to solve customer problems.

  • Provide product training and application training to customers, sales force, and TAE team.

  • Work directly with customers and lead application team members to influence technical specifications and support sales team to close key orders.

  • Develop and cultivate long-term relationships at the technical levels of customer organizations

  • Coordinate with sales teams to insure team coverage for sales calls and presentations and field activities.

  • Partner with sales team to enhance selling techniques and approaches in line with both the region's growth objectives and Grid Solutions initiatives

  • Ensure application team has coverage with phone support and email support to support customers and resolve cases.

  • Lead case investigation and management of complex support cases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Electronics or Electrical or Control & Instrumentation Engineering

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in power system protection and control

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with transmission utilities.

  • Ability and willingness to travel when necessary

  • Have legal authorization to work in Canada and be aware that any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a pre-employment verification.

  • Working across several layers of the business to develop and implement product strategies for customers.

  • Recognized as a thought leader within the protection and control industry

  • Perform Power system protection coordination studies, short circuit studies and relay setting calculations and provide support for field installation

  • Power system automation and communication expertise

  • Hands on expertise in configuring and troubleshooting protection and control systems

  • Substation automation, SCADA, and RTU application expertise

  • Integration of various Utility and Industrial protection and control systems

  • Conveys deep understanding of industrial and utility relaying protection schemes

  • Demonstrates practical experience with protective relay settings, features and network communications

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor and interact with all levels of customers

  • Excellent background in a customer-interfacing role

  • Work efficiently without direct supervision

  • Desire to work outside of boundaries and drive change

  • Demonstrate practical experience with protective relay settings, features and network communications

  • Self-starter with a positive, customer focused attitude

  • Demonstrated creative and problem-solving skills

  • Flexible and adaptable; open to change and modification of tasks

  • Able to share ideas and work well in a team environment

  • Proactive approach to tasks - displays initiative
