What You’ll Get to Do:

You will help the U.S. Navy buy great ships!

You will be a Mid-level, structural engineer supporting our Washington, DC office, but able to work remotely (in the U.S.). Initially you will design and analyze equipment foundations in and on a building that will serve as a military ship land-based test facility. After your first year at CACI you will be integrated into a team of ship structural engineers that develop new ship structural designs and retrofits on existing U.S. Navy ships, primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Military Sealift Command (MSC). Specifically, you will:

  • Design steel foundations and mast for attaching Navy equipment in and on a land-based test facility,

  • Assist in the development of new ship structural designs,

  • Design equipment foundations and other structural modifications to existing steel and aluminum ships,

  • Analyze structural designs using analytic tools including FEMAP and NASTRAN,

  • Participate in development of reports defining your analysis and results,

  • Apply regulatory and customer standards for design methodologies and pass/fail criteria, and

  • Interface with Navy customers, vendors, shipyards and internal team members.

More About the Role:

You will work with a team of ship structural engineers and collaborate to identify best methodologies and ensure high-quality products such as calculations, finite element models, reports and ship structures specifications.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering,

  • 5+ years of experience performing building structural design and analysis, including equipment attachment,

  • 3+ years of experience using FEMAP/NASTRAN and/or ANSYS Mechanical Enterprise FEA software,

  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Powerpoint and Word,

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills,

  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time,

  • US Citizenship, and

  • Security clearance eligibility.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience using AutoCAD,

  • U.S. Navy Surface ship design, operations or maintenance experience,

  • Good organization and time management skills, and

  • Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely in English.

Pay Range : There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$68,400-$143,700
