Registered Nurse I - Juvenile ServicesAnnual Salary:$ 52,520- $68,348(Salary range will increase accordingly with the 07/01/2018 COLA)Deadline to Apply: Until Further NoticePOSITION INFORMATION:Under general supervision of an Advanced Practitioner of Nursing, provides routine nursing care in a detention facility; and performs related work as required. This is an Open Competitive / Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a full time vacancy in the Department of Juvenile Services effective July 1, 2018. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.For more information on this position, please see the Job Specification athttps://www.washoecounty.us/humanresources/jobspecs.phpMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing, plus one year of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:* A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.* A current CPR certification.* A current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse is required at the time of application.IDEAL CANDIDATE:Can exhibit understanding of their role of returning materials to the shelf as the first point of access to the customer.The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse who enjoys working with an at-risk adolescent population in a clinic-type setting. Job skills will include physical assessments, triage, medication administration, laboratory testing, and lots of patient education. This person must be comfortable both making independent nursing assessments and working as part of a supportive team to provide on-going case management.We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can educate juveniles and parents and work in a professional manner with both co-workers and other medical specialists. Additionally, this person will be a good role-model that can provide kind therapeutic care while still demonstrating appropriate boundaries and limit-setting for juveniles 10-18 years old. The ideal candidate will have an up-to-date knowledge of standard medical interventions common for the adolescent population.
