Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

We are looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to work in our Rhome, TX facility. This role will manage electrical projects for the specification, design, and installation of new equipment for new projects that will support our growth plans. The person in this role must effectively communicate with a cross-disciplinary Engineering Team, and coordinate with our Operations and Maintenance Teams to provide solutions and improvements across American Sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and troubleshoot existing PLC programming

  • Specify, design, program, and commission process control systems

  • Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements

  • Support the selection, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment.

  • Provide support and technical evaluation for the purchase of capital equipment

  • Ensure that systems are electrically and mechanically safe

  • Work with others to detect problems and implement solutions

  • Develop and provide training for site staff

  • Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance Teams to maintain equipment and minimize downtime

  • Maintain quality and safety standards

  • Evaluate equipment and make recommendations on needed maintenance

  • Other duties as reasonably assigned

    Experience, Knowledge, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 3-5 years or more of experience in a related field

  • PLC programming experience preferably Allen Bradley

  • Experience in using AutoCAD or similar drawing package

  • Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems. Excellent communication skills

  • Broad computer programming experience desired

  • Experience in managing electrical projects from concept to delivery preferred

  • Contractor management experience preferred

  • Ability to read P&ID drawings preferred

    Why A-Gas?

    Pay will be commensurate with experience. The targeted salary range is between $95,000 and up, this role is eligible for the Employee Incentive Program.
