Manager, Project Manager - Retail Bank Data Management and Governance Team

As a Manager of Project Management, you will be focused on ensuring the Bank is well-managed and compliant with our Information Data Management policy with special attention to Early Warning Services processes and relationships. You will be a subject matter expert and deliver data management strategies and processes that improve business efficiency and drive results. You will create and modify processes while collaborating with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the way we work. You will monitor data trends to measure effectiveness and install necessary benchmarks or thresholds to ensure data integrity. You will educate and gain buy-in from key stakeholders concerning the utilization of process to ensure appropriate execution each and every time.

In this role you will provide project management support of key initiatives identified for the organization, while also developing a project management toolkit to aid the broader organization on their delivery efforts. We are seeking dedicated, disciplined project management professionals who excel in a fast paced, team environment and are able to handle and deliver on complex efforts. This individual must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. This individual must display strong leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate others in delivering flawless execution of process improvement projects.

The Retail Bank Data Management and Governance Team at Capital One offers a unique opportunity to partner with the Bank data community at large to provide education and guidance toward Enterprise data policy compliance. We use data analytics to inform our priorities, opportunities and modernization efforts while ensuring that our data is registered, protected, and secure. Our group is driving a culture change where data management is top of mind for Bank associates, and you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in making this happen.

Responsibilities of the Manager, Project Management consist of:

  • Become an expert on Early Warning Services data contributions, performers and stakeholders.

  • Monitor data trends and create metrics/reports for peers and multiple stakeholders.

  • Provide a Project Management toolkit for the broader organization to utilize to aid in well-managed delivery of efforts.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to build an understanding of processes or workflows that involve sensitive data and ensure that it is properly protected.

  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments.

  • Delivering projects/programs with moderate to high levels of complexity and guiding cross-functional project teams to deliver well managed results across the organization.

  • Planning, designing, managing and executing project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management of scope definition, requirement expectations, planning, documentation, communications and implementation.

The selected candidate will:

  • Exhibit and demonstrate a track record of project and program management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage tasks and related expectations.

  • Be an innovative problem solver and have a continuous improvement mindset to continue to create efficiencies and continue to evolve our processes.

  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts.

  • Display a passion for coaching and developing delivery teams through leadership.

  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes.

  • Have demonstrated experience in various project management / problem solving methodology (waterfall, agile, design thinking, etc.).

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and/or programs simultaneously.

  • Experience in People Leadership developing strong, effective and diverse teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 3 years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • At least 2 years of experience in Relationship management

  • At least 2 years of experience in Data management or Data processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Lean certification or Six Sigma certification

  • 5+ years of experience in Process management

  • 5+ years of experience in Project management

  • 5+ years of experience in complex problem solving

  • 5+ years of experience in Relationship management

  • 5+ years of experience in Data management or Data privacy legislation
