Ridgewood Savings Bank Fire Life Safety Director & Assistant Security Supervisor in Ridgewood, New York

Estimated Starting Salary is $1003-$1254 per week.

Duties and Responsibilities/Results:

  • Actively participate in the supervision of department subordinates through training and discipline, and evaluating the Floor Guards.

  • Ensure timely prosecution by submitting, when assigned, results of internal investigations to law enforcement.

  • Assist Talent Management in screening new applicants by searching public records of verify basic identification.

  • Be present and on duty in the building during regular business hours.

  • Be fully familiar with the provisions of the fire safety and evacuation plan.

  • Supervise and train the deputy fire safety/EAP directors, fire safety building evacuation supervisors, fire safety wardens, deputy fire safety wardens, fire safety searchers, fire safety brigade members and other staff, including conducting initial and periodic refresher training to maintain the state of readiness of such staff.

  • Be responsible for a daily check of the availability of fire safety wardens and deputy fire safety wardens, and make such notifications or temporary assignments as are necessary to ensure adequate fire safety staffing.

  • Select qualified building personnel for the fire safety brigade, organize, train and supervise the fire safety brigade, and be responsible for the state of readiness of the fire safety brigade.

  • In the event of a fire or emergency in or affecting the building, report to the fire command center or designated alternative location, and, if appropriate, implement the fire safety and evacuation plan in accordance with its terms and the provisions. Communicate all information and directions to building occupants to implement the fire safety and evacuation plan.

  • Notify arriving emergency response personnel of the nature of the emergency and the response taken or actions implemented.

  • Assist in conducting fire drills.

  • Maintain records and logs as required by law. Conduct periodic testing of the system as deemed necessary.

  • Assists as needed by performing other related duties from time to time, and as needed.

Job Specifications:

  • Must have a valid F-89 License, (minimum 2yrs. prior experience) and be able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness from the FDNY for the building assigned to.

  • Must have a valid NYS Security Guard License.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle.

  • Be familiar with Microsoft Software Systems including Outlook, Word & Excel programs.

  • Ability to respond to off-hour emergency calls, specifically for alarms system calls when necessary.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Special consideration given to candidates with previous experience as a Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Marshall, Police Officer, Volunteer Firefighter, or Correction Officer.
