Position Summary

Join our dynamic University Advancement team at UW-River Falls where you will make a positive impact in your work each day. As a key team member, you’ll be tasked with identifying and nurturing relationships with potential donors, both individuals and organizations, at the major gift level. Your role will involve developing and executing fundraising plans with precision and strategy and collaborating closely with UWRF University Advancement and UWRF Foundation colleagues. Together, you’ll work towards predefined fundraising goals through targeted donor cultivation and stewardship activities. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on our university’s future while engaging in dynamic and fulfilling work within a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as University Advancement’s fundraising liaison to the College of Education, Business and Allied Health ( CEBAH ) and other internal and external constituencies.

  • Develops and manages a portfolio of 100-150 major donors and prospects ($10,000+) to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward supporters for the generation of gifts to reach university and college funding goals

  • Conducts approximately 150 meaningful visits each year. Meaningful visits consist of well-planned meetings, in-person or virtual, with alumni, friends and organizations that cultivate the relationship and lead to financial support of UWRF .

  • Works in partnership with the dean, chairs, and faculty from CEBAH to identify, prioritize and support key fundraising projects, programs, and positions.

  • Creates proposals for general operating, endowment, program, and planned gifts, including blended asks.

  • Works within the CRM to track communication, view data, and assist in analyzing data to inform and prioritize individuals and strategies.

  • Coordinates the involvement of appropriate faculty, staff and volunteers in the donor cultivation and solicitation process.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree.

  • A minimum three years of full-time employment in fundraising, marketing, sales, public relations, financial advising, or related field with emphasis on relationship cultivation and solicitation of individuals and/or businesses.

  • Strong communication skills including verbal, written, and listening.

  • Self-motivated and able to lead initiatives independently.

  • Strong attention to detail and proven project management skills.

  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of curiosity and a learning orientation; someone who operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.

  • Ability to travel as needed to meet prospective donors. Travel is typical by car and on occasion by air.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as the position requires.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five plus years of direct fundraising experience.

  • Experience in cultivating and soliciting individuals capable of five and six figure gifts.

  • Ability to maintain timely and complete record of activities, results and planned follow up to discussions.

  • Appreciation for or experience working in higher education, particularly in the fields of education, business, or allied health.

  • A strong connection to UW-River Falls.
