Avangrid Service Company Senior Manager - Corp Apps & Projects in Rochester, New York

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $128,833 to $185,199

JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting
relationships, other relationships:

The Senior Manager Corporate Applications and Projects will be
responsible to coordinate a team that will manage several concurrent
projects for the Networks and Corporate areas for Avangrid, including
Major IT Projects.

The role coordinates support activities, prioritizes tasks, supports
projects and communicates task status with IT Management and the key
stakeholders.

Lead a team of 9+ direct reports in supporting project management
activities for Networks and Corporate areas and Corporate Applications.

This role requires a close coordination and collaboration with the
Networks and Corporate Applications Managers to proactively identify
opportunities of new innovative Digital Solutions for the different
Business Areas.

The Corporate applications and Projects will be responsible to manage IT
Project Management Functions for Networks and Corporate areas as well as
Applications for Corporate areas. Responsibilities include:

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of
responsibilities):

  • Responsible for application deployments supporting the Corporate Areas for NY, ME, CT and MA and Renewables companies
  • Work with IT Business Office to ensure consistency in reporting of project financials
  • Work with project managers to improve their knowledge of project reporting in the IT project management tools
  • Conduct meetings with project managers to ensure timely and accurate project reporting - e.g. key, milestone, and other progress tasks, project highlights, and project risks
  • Collaborate with the Applications Managers in the definition, plan and source of the different projects, including the identification of resources needed in the Business and external services required to support the project implementation.
  • Responsible of the excellence in the project management:

- Create the vision of the project and Objectives / Milestones to achieve.

- Distribute the objectives / requirements in iterations and publish a schedule of deliveries (releases) to all interested parties.

- Organize and lead project status and working meetings.

- Preparation and distribution of progress reports.

- Management of project risks and issues including mitigations plans.

- Take responsibility for overall progress and initiate corrective action where necessary including the development of contingency plans.

  • Responsible to manage all the applications maintenance and support requests for Corporate areas. Work collaborative with the Business to analyze, characterize and prioritize the Backlog and monitors the progress of these requests on a regularly basis.
  • Actively participates in IT strategic planning and other IT leadership processes as required.
  • Ensure effective lines of communication between various areas, processes and members are established and maintained.
  • Manages all IT staff assigned to their area, including internal IT staff and external IT consultants, on a day-to-day basis. Responsible for the staff performance evaluation process for staff assigned to them.
  • Manages and enforces IT standards, processes, policies and methodologies.
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor staff Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Assist in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance
  • Leads a team of internal and external staff assigned to their area Champion on-going process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Project Management
  • Work collaboratively with the business area and IT management team and staff in the to ensure IT standards are followed.
  • Responsible to drive the annual demand process for Corporate Areas. Work collaboratively to prioritize that demand and align Business and IT Strategies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Project Management or closely related discipline, and four years of related field or IT equivalent work experience required. In lieu of degree, a minimum of 10 years of related field or IT equivalent work experience is required.
  • Experience of support role in business area or IT environment, including two years or more in a leadership role
  • Experience in project management with large projects, methodologies and metric reporting.
  • Experience with large computer systems, from either a technical support position or a system administrator position
  • Experience with Application Lifecycle Management.
  • Project leadership and supervisory experience
  • Willingness to travel

  • Prior management/supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, challenging and rigid deadlines and technologies.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
  • Program/Project Management experience.
