Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant/Manager

Location: Suffolk County, New York

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Senior Accountant/Manager with general accounting and professional tax filing expertise for our Suffolk County, NY location. The successful candidate will assist in managing our company's overall accounting function and be responsible for handling complex tax preparation activities, including both individual and corporate returns.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

  • Oversee and manage the general ledger.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements for the management team.

  • Facilitate the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.

  • Research and analyze difficult tax issues as necessary.

  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of all accounting tasks.

  • Develop relationships with team members to strengthen the department's overall efficiency and productivity.

  • Conduct regular ledger maintenance.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification is preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven senior accounting experience.

  • Solid proficiency with office management software, payroll applications, and the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in financial reporting.

  • Extensive corporate and personal tax return experience.

  • Proficient in tax software and research tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.

  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
