WSP USA Associate Consultant, Civil Engineering in Roseville, California
This Opportunity
WSP is seeking an Associate Consultant, Civil Engineer to join the dynamic Transportation team at our Roseville, CA office, outside of Sacramento.
Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers for planning and design of infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include assistance with the research and report writing, concept development and design for roadway and transit projects, site design, pedestrian and bike facilities. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
Design and drafting of highway, and urban roadway, and site projects
Design and drafting of underground utility networks
Design and drafting of drainage systems
Development and review/verification of construction cost estimates
Development of technical memos and other professional communications
Interaction with a variety of clients to develop unique and cost effective designs
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Apply Civil Engineering principles in public transit, roadway, drainage and utility projects.
Participate in project research, field work, and design calculations and analysis.
Support preparation of design plans, specifications, special provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise respnsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct including adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities when required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.
Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design.
Highly familiar with relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training Certification.
Prior design experience.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $73,700-101,310
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
