Position Description

TheSt. David’s School of Nursing (https://www.nursing.txst.edu/) at Texas State University seeks a dynamic, innovative nursing educator interested in a faculty position at the Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor level in a rapidly evolving environment. Qualified candidates are passionate about delivering high quality nursing education in an online and distance learning format, utilizing state of the art learning modalities. Candidates are committed to preparing baccalaureate and graduate level nursing students to become caring clinicians, practitioners, patient advocates, and visionary leaders.

The nine-month clinical track appointment, with likely summer employment, reports to the Director of St. David’s School of Nursing on the Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus. The School of Nursing is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health Professions.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The responsibilities of the Online Program Coordinator include serving as the liaison between the St. David’s School of Nursing and TXST Global at Texas State University, coordination of online program curriculum development, course building, accreditation preparation, mapping of course and student outcomes, ensuring all courses are accessible to all students, and teaching courses as needed. The Online Program Coordinator will organize program marketing, clinical partnerships, and recruitment strategies and oversee admission and retention procedures. Faculty are expected to engage in teaching, scholarly activities, and academic service to the department, college, and university.

This position is subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

For all ranks:

  • Earned Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited university. If in a related field, must have 12 hours of graduate nursing education course work.

  • At least two years of clinical experience in a registered nurse role.

  • Ability to obtain Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas.

  • At least one year teaching experience in online nursing programs at the graduate level in a professional school of nursing.

  • Experience developing or managing a nursing program in a professional school of nursing.

  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the nursing program’s vision, mission, and goals as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with faculty.

For the rank of Clinical Associate Professor, in addition to those required above:

  • A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience in a professional school of nursing, or equivalent teaching experience at the university level.

  • A demonstrated record of accomplishments or activities in scholarship, teaching, and service.

  • More than five years of full-time experience as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse in clinical practice or management and potential for significant professional growth.

  • Demonstrated strong collegial relationships.

For the rank of Clinical Professor, in addition to those required above:

  • A demonstrated record of significant contributions in teaching, scholarship, and service, supporting advanced expertise and leadership in the chosen clinical field and academic area.

  • A minimum of 10 years of full-time teaching experience at the university level.

The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and school established standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related field or enrolled in a doctoral program with an earned bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing.

  • Earned Nurse Practitioner Master of Science degree from an accredited university.

  • Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse ( APRN ) license or eligible for APRN licensure in Texas.

  • At least one year teaching experience in a professional school of nursing at the undergraduate level.

  • Demonstrated leadership in online higher education including accreditation, program development, assessment, and curriculum design.

  • Experience in building and promoting community relationships and partnerships in clinical or academic settings.

  • Management of administrative admission and retention procedures in professional nursing programs.

  • Experience in marketing and recruitment of nursing students and faculty in professional nursing programs.

  • Experience in mentoring and providing faculty development opportunities for nursing faculty teaching in online programs.

  • Demonstrated collegial leadership and team development.
