Army Installation Management Command Sports Specialist (CYS) NF-03 in Sagamihara, Japan

Summary This position is located at Zama, Sagamihara Housing Area (SHA), Youth Sports and Fitness Center, Japan. Please see Additional Information section below. * Responsibilities Serves as a sports specialist/clinician in a Child and Youth Services (CYS) program, with responsibility for providing support and assistance to the CYS Sports and Fitness Director and installation volunteer sports coaches. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques and helps coaches in creating appropriate environments; selecting materials and equipment; and planning meaningful practices that support the required sport season. Conducts practice and game visits as required for the purpose of providing support and assistance. Helps inspect sports facilities/programs to ensure safety compliance. Recommends purchase of equipment required to maintain proper safety compliance. Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities. Provides oversight and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, Army, and local policies, guidance, and standards. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in physical education, OR All of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level: 1. Experience managing or assisting in the delivery of a sports or physical education program which included both individual and team sports 2. Demonstrated knowledge of the skills and techniques needed for various sports. 3. Experience coaching or working with coaches to apply techniques and required skills/fundamentals for various sports. Recommended highly-qualifying: Highly Preferred candidates will possess ALL of the following: Do you have experience in the following criteria: In addition to meeting one of the requirements above, highly qualified candidates will possess experience working in a sports program specifically for children or youth; or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e., PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc.). Area of Consideration The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is local commuting area of Sagamihara Housing Area, Camp Zama, Japan. Healthcare Access and Availability If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for Early Intervention Services (EIS) will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
