Job Summary:

Provides leadership and direction and applies the necessary technical assistance and training in the administration, operation, and support of the Emergency Preparedness program. The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe and responsive working environment for all staff, physicians and visitors within all facilities and to constantly improve the resilience of the business operations during emergency situations. Scope of responsibility includes hospitals, corporate offices, medical group offices, urgent care sites, clinics, and ambulatory locations throughout a Region. Position has no direct reports but works closely with many stakeholders in the company to achieve results.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides subject matter expertise to lead collaborative teams to achieve operational excellence in Emergency Preparedness. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for healthcare such as the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission as well as State regulatory agencies. Performs internal audits for compliance and reports to leadership.

  • Interprets complex regulations and provides guidance to mitigate risks with the support of more experienced colleagues and to ensure business continuity during emergencies.

  • Assists more experienced staff to coordinate activities of stakeholders within a region to achieve program goals. Assists in the support for all hospital and clinic locations as needed to resolve issues relating to regulatory compliance and business continuity.

  • Assists with development of programmatic direction and strategies to drive results. Recommends and creates changes to policies, procedures, and regulatory programming related to emergency preparedness.

  • Works under the direction of others to train staff, assess communication capabilities, maintain equipment inventories, and to plan drills and exercises, and collect after action reports from drills and actual emergencies. Makes recommendations to leadership for improvements.

  • Attends meetings regarding Emergency Preparedness throughout assigned region to ensure consistent results.

  • Develops relationships with front line staff, leaders, and external partners to achieve goals.

  • Works outside normal business hours, which includes overnight and on weekends during planned events/exercises and business emergencies.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Public Health or equivalent experience in a related fieldEXPERIENCE

  • One year experiencePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
