Confidential Employer Farm Labor Workers in Saint Thomas, Pennsylvania

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Following supervisors instruction, workers will harvest, load, grade, haul and pack various types of produce from our farm. The worker will require use of hand tools such as shears and knives. This work can require standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 70 pounds for long periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions. It also includes making important decisions based on size, coloring and ripeness according to prescribed standards. This work requires adherence to important food safety and quality standard operating procedures and the ability to work quickly and consistently alongside fellow workers with a positive, professional, team-based attitude and a consideration for the safety and health of fellow workers and of the consumers who will purchase and consume the fresh produce grown, harvested, packed, and shipped from the farm. Squash Harvest: As instructed, worker will move down assigned row and pick proper size, shape and color of squash, place into bucket. When full, take to designated area. Cucumber Harvest: As instructed, worker will move down assigned row grasping, twisting then removing cucumber from plant by snapping stem. Place cucumber into bucket, exercising care to avoid damage to vines and cucumber. Pepper Harvesting: As instructed, worker will move down assigned row and pick proper size, shape and color of pepper, place into bucket. When full, take to designated area. Apple Harvest: As instructed, worker will pick proper size, and color of apple, place into bucket. When full, take to designated area. Peach Harvest: As instructed, worker will pick proper size and color of peach, place into bucket. When full, take to designated area. Pumpkins: Using a harvesting knife, cut and gather pumpkins and place in the bin. Weeding: Workers will remove weeds by use of a hoe from the walk-way and remove all weeds growing around plants by hand. Workers will remove weeds from the growing area. General Farm Work: Tasks the worker must be able to perform include: field and farm cleanup and maintenance including pulling weeds, maintain crops, gathering plastic, apple and peach thinning, washing produce containers, picking up trash, and cleaning and washing equipment. The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools.

Workers will follow supervisors instructions when harvesting a variety of other fruits, nuts, berries, pole crops and vegetables during the season. Apple Picking workers will be paid a Piece Rate of $1.10/per bushel of apples picked with an estimated hourly rate of $17.20 per hour. All other work will be hourly paid at the applicable hourly adverse effect wage rate (AEWR). Workers are guaranteed that their totalearnings will be at least equal to the applicable AEWR per hour for all hours worked in pay period. If a workers total earnings in any pay period in which the worker has worked at a piece rate are less than the applicable AEWR for all hours worked in thepay period, the employer will increase the workers pay to the guaranteed minimum for the total hours worked in the respective pay period.
